Dealer History

Motorpoint was co-founded by David Shalton back in 1998. The company's first location was in Derby. In the period from 2001 to 2006, the company expanded its business with, four more retail locations in Burnley, Glasgow, Newport and Peterborough.

By expanding its business and forming new business units, the company also increased the number of employees. Mark Morris joined the management in 2010 as a non-executive Chairman. A year later, Motorpoint had another new face in its ranks Mark Carpenter. Carpenter initially served as CFO. Carpenter's quality and hard work quickly came to the fore, namely only two years after arriving at Motorpoint he was elected CEO. James Gilmour was appointed to the position of Chief Financial Officer of the company in 2015. Enthusiastic leadership has brought excellent results to the companies, so Motorpoint has been listed on the London Stock Exchange since 2016. During that period, the company also appointed three new non-CEOs, Gordon Hurst, Steve Weller and Mary McNamara. The year 2016 was hugely successful for Motorpoint, so in May of the same year, a point of sale was opened in Castleford and only two months later in Oldbury.
