Early history 2003-2006
Swansway Group is one of the most successful companies that emerged at the beginning of the new millennium. In under 15 years they were able to achieve a great number of accomplishments, deals with some of the world's most renowned car brands and even a couple of awards.

The company was founded by the Smyth family in 2003 when Michael Smyth, a man with a lot of experience in the field, bought LC Charles Ltd. The company then acquired four dealerships in Crewe, Stoke and Stafford. Only two years after that, the company founded the first Volkswagen Van Centre in Preston, Lancashire.

2006-2013
In 2006 the company built a 4-acre head office with onsite PDI facilities and a bodyshop. Soon after, they acquired Wrexham Volkswagen from Inchcape along with their bodyshop. In 2010 they signed a deal with Peugeot and opened a dealership in Chester. At the same time, their Accident Repair Centre was fully recognised by Audi, ŠKODA, Peugeot, VW and SEAT. They bought Honda Stockport, Honda Manchester and Honda Rochdale. In January 2011 they opened a VW Van Centre in Liverpool and improved their Audi and Honda dealerships. In 2012 they opened 2 brand new showrooms including Chester Peugeot and Crewe Volkswagen. The following summer they added a Land Rover franchise in New Stafford and expended their Van Centre and showrooms in Crewe. In 2013 they acquired Chester Fiat and Citroën.

2014-2020
In 2014 the company made a deal with Jeep and started representing them. 2015 was a very successful year for the group as they managed to open a New Fleet facility, a new Land Rover dealership and acquire Honda Bolton.
Pretty soon they were awarded for their hard work and their Crewe SEAT was named ''Dealership of the Year 2015'' at the AM Awards. In 2016 a super site in Chester was opened, housing Citroën, Jeep and DS. In July they received another award ''Motor Trader Employer of the Year'' and the following summer they were awarded '' Motor Trader Dealer Group of the Year''. In 2017, they opened their first Jaguar dealership in Crewe. In 2019 Crew CUPRA and Motor Match Chester opened. The opening of the above mentioned dealerships was followed by three more awards for the best bodyshop, dealership and group of the year. In January 2020 they were awarded ''VW Key Partner of the Year 2019''. Their latest project was Motor Match Stafford that opened in January.
